Devotional Part 1: Where My Journey of Healing Began
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.” — Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
Before anyone else knew my name, before my body was fully understood, before fear entered the room, God already saw me.
Psalm 139 reminds us that our identity does not begin with a diagnosis, a label, or a moment of crisis. It begins with being known. Our lives are not accidents unfolding in real time, but stories written with intention long before we take our first breath.
The beginning of my life was marked by uncertainty and unanswered questions. Celebration gave way to concern, and medical language replaced joy. But heaven did not react in shock. God did not step back in surprise. He was not scrambling for a new plan.
He had already written my days.
This truth gently challenges the lie that suffering is the first word spoken over us. It is not. Before doctors spoke, God did. Before assumptions were made, I was known. Before fear filled the room, I was seen.
For those whose stories begin with pain, confusion, or fear, this verse offers grounding reassurance: your worth was established before the world tried to define you. Your life was never a mistake. You were not an afterthought. Your beginning may have been complicated—but it was never accidental.
Healing does not begin with answers. It begins with remembering who you were before the labels.
If your story seems to start in a place of pain or unanswered questions, consider this: maybe it didn’t begin there at all. Maybe it began with being fully known and deeply loved by a faithful God who saw you long before anyone else did.
A Prayer
Heavenly Father,
You are the Creator of all life, and nothing You form is without intention. Thank You for seeing me before I was born and for knowing every day I would live. Even when my beginnings were marked by uncertainty or pain, You were not surprised.
Help me to separate my identity from the labels placed upon me. Where I have believed that something was “wrong” with me from the start, remind me that I was known and loved before any diagnosis ever came.
Where I see brokenness, You see purpose. Where I feel fear, You are steady. Thank You that my life began in Your hands and has never left them. Teach me to rest in that truth.
When I struggle to understand my story, anchor me in the deeper truth that I am Yours. Teach me to live from that truth rather than from fear.
I trust You as the Author of my story.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
A Song for Reflection
Music has always been a deeply meaningful part of my life. From a very young age, I found comfort and refuge in songs when words felt hard to find. Even now, certain songs echo truths my heart is still learning to trust. They remind me of who God is, who I am in Him, and how redemption weaves its way through every part of our story.

“You have written and redeemed my story.”
This line echoes Psalm 139. Long before circumstances defined me, God had already written my days. What felt uncertain at the start was never outside His care. He does not simply observe our lives; He authors them—and redeems what we struggle to understand.
